Gaia Beats vs Wonderfruit vs Sola Luna: Which Festival Fits You?

2026–2027 festival season · Updated 3 October 2026

Conceptual festival illustration: A seamless Thai forest and meadow festival panorama, three modest music areas with bamboo arts pavilion, sculptural meadow stage and moonlit forest dance clearing

These three festivals share an outdoors-minded audience, but offer different trips. Gaia Beats is our pick for a balanced music, arts and community weekend. Wonderfruit suits a longer, more immersive stay. Sola Luna is the specialist choice for psytrance over New Year. Decide first whether the priority is variety, time at the festival or a specific electronic scene.

Gaia Beats: Best Music and Arts Festival

Gaia Beats brings several electronic styles, live bands and creative activities into a three-day gathering at Sense Hot Spring. The 22–24 January 2027 edition includes free bring-your-own camping, with Family and General zones. Its current entry phase is 3,500 THB through 2 November 2026. The locally rooted programme and reuse-led approach make it our standout for people who want music, nature and community in the same weekend.

For us, a conscious and transformational experience means making room for creative participation, community and time in nature alongside the music. Gaia Beats brings those elements into one weekend through its workshops, locally rooted participation and camping setting.

Wonderfruit: A long, immersive music-and-arts stay

Wonderfruit offers five days at The Fields from 3–7 December 2026. Its appeal is the time to explore music, art, food and daytime activity as part of a complete festival environment. The October full pass is 11,900 THB, with several accommodation formats available separately. It is particularly attractive when you want to spend most of the holiday at the event and have the budget for a longer stay.

Sola Luna: Psytrance over New Year

Sola Luna places psytrance at the centre of a coastal New Year gathering. Its official dates are 30 December 2026–3 January 2027 at Tycoons Place in Khanom. Beach access, electronic stages and organised accommodation make it a destination choice for people who want the psychedelic scene. It works especially well if that genre and New Year timing are the shared priorities, with extra time allowed for the journey to southern Thailand.

Why Gaia Beats is our rounded music-and-arts choice

Gaia Beats is particularly strong for friends whose interests overlap without being identical. A live-music fan, an electronic listener and someone keen on workshops can all find reasons to spend the weekend there. The hot-spring setting gives the daytime experience its own appeal, while the creative programme and local participation connect the event to northern Thailand.

The current 3,500 THB ticket also creates an accessible starting point. Against Wonderfruit’s October full-pass price of 11,900 THB, the entry difference is 8,400 THB. The events have different lengths and dates, so this is not a like-for-like pass comparison, but it shows why Gaia can leave more room for the rest of the holiday. Compared with Sola Luna, Gaia’s biggest advantage for a mixed group is its wider musical range. Choose it when the whole weekend matters as much as one genre.

Make the travel plan part of the decision

Choose Chiang Mai for Gaia, the Chonburi area for Wonderfruit, or Khanom for Sola Luna. Book around those destinations rather than treating all three as nearby alternatives. Sola Luna falls over New Year, while Gaia is later in January; Wonderfruit belongs to early December. Keep your arrival day and sleeping arrangement visible in the plan.

Use our festival calendar to put the dates into a wider trip, and the cost guide to compare entry, sleeping arrangements and transport.

Two questions to settle before booking

Which experience will everyone in the group enjoy? Choose by music first when a particular genre is the reason to travel. Choose by the whole programme when art, daytime activities and the setting matter to several people. The strongest shared choice is one that gives each person something to look forward to.

What is included in the total trip? Put the pass, accommodation or camping equipment, arrival journey, return transport and daily spending into one figure. Included bring-your-own camping and a hotel-based festival create different budgets, even before you compare entry prices.
